Government needs to reassure us on affordable housing targets

12.00.00am GMT Fri 21st Nov 2008

Commenting on the report by Cardiff Business School which states that the Government needs to review its target of 6,500 new affordable homes, Peter Black AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Housing said:

"Cardiff Business School have reached the same conclusions as the Welsh Liberal Democrats that this target has been badly thought through and cannot be achieved without concerted action by the Government.

"Since June I have been saying that the economic slowdown would make it impossible to deliver the planning gain that might help achieve the 6,500 affordable homes we have been promised. The Government needs to produce new plans in the wake of the changed economic situation."
