12.00.00am BST (GMT +0100) Tue 22nd Jul 2008

Commenting on the news that the Celtic Crusaders Rugby League team have won a Super League licence for the next three years, Welsh Liberal Democrat spokesperson for Sport and Heritage, Peter Black said:

"This is fantastic news for the Bridgend area, as well as the sport of Rugby League in Wales. I would like to congratulate all those at the club who have been involved in securing this very prestigious licence."

"Having thousands of French and English fans visiting will bring a significant economic boost to the area, whilst local people will now have an opportunity to see world class sport on their doorstep. I hope that licence helps Wales further develop its international Rugby League team as well and encourages more young people into this sport."
