The Welsh Liberal Democrat Culture and Sport spokesperson, Peter Black, has sought to rally his Assembly colleagues behind the Welsh Rugby Team Grand Slam bid against France on Saturday.
Mr. Black has tabled a 'statement of opinion' congratulating the Welsh team on their success so far in the tournament, as well as wishing them luck in Saturdays match with France.
"It has been a fantastic weekend for sport in Wales, but it can still get better." said Mr. Black. "I firmly believe that Wales can overcome what I am sure will be a tough challenge from France and win the Grand Slam. I am particularly proud of the fact that many of the Welsh players come from my local Neath Swansea Ospreys."
"But there is a another side to this. In the Assembly we regularly talk about the need to encourage our children to exercise and nothing achieves this like the sporting success we are seeing at the moment. I would urge local schools to capitalise on this enthusiasm by offering rugby and football lessons during the holidays."
