The Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member South Wales West, Peter Black, has welcomed Nick Clegg MP, the Leader of the Liberal Democrats to Bridgend and Swansea.
Mr. Clegg will be talking to the Bridgend youth council in the civic centre at 4pm tomorrow (31st January) before traveling to Swansea to listen to local residents in a public meeting in Brynmill School. He will then be addressing a dinner put on by Swansea and Gower Liberal Democrats.
Nick Clegg was elected leader of the Liberal Democrats in December and this is his first visit to Wales since then. He will also be visiting a school in Cardiff and meeting the Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Group in the Senedd.
"I am pleased to welcome Nick Clegg to the region I represent," said Mr. Black. "I am particularly proud that it shares its boundaries with the region covered by the Ospreys, most of whom will be representing Wales on Saturday. I am sure that the Liberal Democrat leader will have a warm welcome in Ospreylia. As both Bridgend and Swansea are led by the Liberal Democrats, Nick will be able to see at first hand the difference we are making and the improvements we have introduced for local people."
"As Nick is a politician who is keen to listen to the views of the general public, I am proud that he has chosen our area to hold one of his first Town Hall meetings. He intends to spend the evening listening to the concerns of local people rather than spending the whole time making people listen to him, a trap many more experienced politicians can often fall into. I would also like to make sure that the public know they are welcome at this meeting. This is not an event for Liberal Democrat supporters but those of all political backgrounds and those with no political background at all."
Note: Nick Clegg will be holding a meeting at 5.30pm in Brynmill School, Brynmill, Swansea. All are welcome and press slots are still available.
