Local Assembly Member welcomes new jobs for Swansea

4.11.11pm BST (GMT +0100) Wed 22nd Aug 2007

The Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black, has welcomed the news that 125 new graduate jobs will be created in Swansea.

The jobs are being brought to the area by Checkwell Decision Corporation, who are planning on opening their UK headquarters in Swansea. They offer services which include credit, background and criminal record checks on people applying for jobs as well as reference verification. The company will offer its services to the banking, insurance, education and business sectors in the UK and Europe.

"Checkwell's decision to open their UK headquarters in Swansea shows that the City is becoming an attractive place for businesses," said Mr. Black. "All the jobs that will be created are graduate level jobs and I believe that their decision must be at least in part based on the high quality of graduates coming from Swansea University as well as the quality of life that the City can offer."

"I welcome this decision and hope that this will be one of many businesses moving to Swansea in the next few years."
