Born in 1960, Peter Black is a former civil servant. He worked for the Land Registry for Wales from 1983 to 1999. He is married to Angela and lives in the Manselton area of Swansea. He has been a member of the City and County of Swansea and its predecessor Council since 1984. He is a former Chair of the Welsh Liberal Democrats and the party's spokesperson on Communities, incorporating Social Justice, Housing, the Welsh Language, Culture and Sport. He is a member of the Assembly Commission. His interests include housing, science fiction, film, theatre and poetry. Click on the photograph for a more complete biography and contact details.

Assembly Member seeks assurances on Singleton Hospital casualty unit

The Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black is to meet Swansea NHS Trust to seek assurances that their plans for Singleton Hospital Accident and Emergency Unit will not reduce the level on service currently on offer to people living in the west of Swansea.

Cloning of e-passports 'destroys the last shred of ID card credibility' says AM

Welsh Liberal Democrat Social Justice Spokesperson, Peter Black has questioned the viability of the Government's ID card scheme after reports in a national newspaper detailing how it had been able to get a security researcher to clone two of the UK government's new e-passports which contain allegedly 'fake proof' microchips.

Video Game Classification needs reform to protect children says Assembly Member

Responding to a government consultation on the subject, the Welsh Liberal Democrat Heritage spokesperson, Peter Black has called on the Department for Culture, Media and Sport to hand over the classification of video and computer games to the British Board of Film Classification so as to protect children from inappropriate content.
