Gerald Francis - Ogmore

Gerald was born in Hertfordshire and lived there until early 2009 when he and his wife moved to South Wales. His father was from Maesteg and Gerald said he would always return to "the land of my father" Gerald was educated locally in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire and started work as an apprentice plumber, qualified and worked for a small firm until 1992 when he started his own business. In 2005 Gerald went into teaching plumbing and completed the Certificate of Education at Anglia Ruskin University. He is still teaching in South Wales.

Gerald married in 1971 and has 4 grown up daughters, 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter. From 2001 until their move in 2009 Gerald and his wife were local authority foster carers and cared for a total of 12 young children and babies.

Gerald has had a keen interest in politics since the 1960s and has been active since the mid 80s. Gerald has held most posts at Constituency and Branch level including Chair in the Hertford and Stortford Constituency. Gerald has actively helped at many by elections all over England and Wales. Including Ogmore in 2002 and Blainau Gwent.

Since moving to Wales Gerald has already helped with the Euro, the General and local elections.
