Stephanie Clarke, Peter Black AM, Eurig Wyn the newly appointed chair of the RESEC Cymru's Advisory Board and Jane Mudd of UWIC
Welsh Liberal Democrat Regional Assembly Member, Peter Black has congratulated Neath student Stephanie Clarke, who has been awarded a special £100 bursary in recognition of her efforts in research and dementia developmental studies at UWIC in Cardiff. She has recently completed the second year of the BSc (Hons) Housing Policy and Practice there.
Mr. Black presented her with the cheque as a worthy runner up at RESEC Cymru's annual awards presentation evening held at the Mansion House in Swansea this week. He commented:
"It is great to see the hard work of our local students being rewarded. I hope this bursary helps Stephanie to further her research into specialist care for older people."
Stephanie has wide ranging academic interests but is particularly interested in the needs of vulnerable adults, especially older people within the community. She is very interested in working with vulnerable adults and is currently undertaking a work placement opportunity with the RNIB in Neath.
This placement has given her the opportunity to become involved in a number of projects. She is focusing upon the design of accommodation for older people with both sight loss and dementia. She is very keen to work with this group of people in the future.
Peter Black has supported RESEC Cymru - Research in Elderly and Specialist Care since its launch in 2009.
"The research that RESEC Cymru carries out is very important as our population ages. It is now one of the leading research charities in Wales that focuses on dementia, aging and social care issues. I commend all at RESEC Cymru for their hard work and dedication to their work."
