Commenting on the Deputy Housing Minister's statement on not for profit nursing homes One Wales commitment, Peter Black Shadow Health and Housing Minister said:
"This is a veiled admission from the Deputy Housing Minister that the Labour-Plaid government will not be able to meet their One Wales commitment to provide not for profit nursing homes in Wales. Her claim that there is no time left to spend the money is an admission that they want to spend the money elsewhere.
"While the model the Deputy Minister has set out does sound like it would be a good idea, there is no indication given as to how these expensive facilities will be paid for in either this, or next, Assembly terms. It is one thing to come up with a good idea, but with no funding, it will remain as only a fantasy.
"A not for profit nursing home scheme is desperately needed to try and take some of the financial burden off old age. This Labour-Plaid government has failed to make the reforms needed to pay for care and is now failing on providing the facilities to deliver this."
