Assembly Member welcomes decision not to proceed with Scarweather Sands wind farm

December 3, 2009 12:00 AM

Commenting on the decision by E-ON not to take forward the proposed Scarweather Sands wind farm development near Porthcawl, Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black said:

"I am pleased to hear that the plug has now been pulled on this proposal. While I recognise the important role that wind has to play in meeting our future energy needs, there were substantial problems with this particular site."

"This proposal was never viable, it was too close to Porthcawl and even the Assembly Planning Inspector thought that it was inappropriate. I am pleased that common sense has prevailed on this occasion."
