Commenting on the draft local government settlement the Welsh Liberal Democrat Shadow Minister for Local Government, Peter Black said:
"Although I am pleased that the Government has listened to Welsh Liberal Democrat demands that the Assembly's increase in its grant is passed on to local Councils, this settlement still guarantees another tough year for local government."
"Because previous revenue support grants have been so poor many Councils have had to make deep cuts in services and more will follow. I fear that the current economic climate and the squeeze that public services face over coming years will lead to more job losses."
