Welcoming the announcement by the Deputy Minister for Housing that she will be publishing a ten year homelessness plan tomorrow, the Welsh Liberal Democrat Housing Spokesperson, Peter Black said:
"This ten year plan has been much anticipated and now that it is out to consultation we must hope that things can at last move forward in terms of tackling homelessness in Wales. However, the key to the success of any measures being put in place by the Assembly Government must be resources.
"Funds for specific homelessness projects are largely committed and no extra cash has been provided for next year. Despite that many local authority areas do not have adequate facilities in place to cope with those sleeping rough, whilst support services for people who have been re-housed are underfunded.
"Once this plan is in place the Minister needs to address the bottleneck in funding so as to ensure that all areas are properly equipped to deal with homeless families."
