Local Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member, Peter Black, has welcomed the decision by First Cymru to change the route of their Swansea to Cardiff shuttle service to include communities in north Swansea.
Following representations from Mr. Black, First Cymru have agreed to stop the Swansea to Cardiff Shuttle 100 at Morriston daily at 7.45am, Monday to Friday, allowing local commuters on their way to Cardiff to leave from the area. This service will be commencing from 7th January. Currently the service only stops to collect passengers on the west side of Swansea.
"Until this change, the early morning shuttle collected passengers In Waunarlwydd, Gowerton, Dunvant, Killay. Sketty and Uplands before its final stops in the Quadrant bus station and Jersey Marine," said Mr. Black. "This change will be much more convenient for passengers living in the north of the City and will provide a more comprehensive service."
"Liberal Democrat Morriston campaigner, Helen Ceri Clarke added, "It was an unfair situation that the shuttle had three stops in Uplands in the morning, yet not a single one in the whole of the north of Swansea. This move will allow people living in Morriston, as well as other parts of the City, to commute easily and cheaply to Cardiff. I am grateful to First for listening to our calls for parity."
