Rob Speht is supporting the return of trams to Swansea
Following a month long selection campaign the Swansea East Liberal Democrats selected a Parliamentary Candidate fro Swansea East this week. The hustings held on Wednesday evening in Llansamlet gave members of the Liberal Democrats in Swansea East the opportunity to quiz the short-listed candidates and choose who they want to represent them at the next General Election.
The Swansea East Lib Dems selected with a large majority Councillor Rob Speht, who represents the Swansea East Council Ward of Landore, and who stood at the last General Election in 2005, when he doubled the Lib Dem share of the vote.
Rob Speht, following his selection as Parliamentary Candidate, said "This is a wonderful opportunity to represent the Lib Dems in Swansea East, and vote of confidence in my leadership skills"
"I am very grateful to the whole Swansea East Team, who has worked very hard in recent years, especially Helen Ceri Clarke in Morriston"
Councillor Chris Holley, Leader of the Council, added "Rob Speht will make an outstanding MP for Swansea East, I will be lending him my support between now and whenever the Prime Minister calls the next General Election"
