Peter Black, Assembly Member for South Wales West and local Welsh Liberal Democrat activists have carried out a survey of train users in Swansea in order to gauge opinion on local train services.
The survey, issued to people using the station on Thursday morning, asks train users questions on various issues regarding their thoughts on the train services. The survey included questions on the quality of catering and toilet facilities on trains, as well as their general satisfaction with the service being provided.
"I wanted to find out whether people in Swansea are happy with the service that our train companies are providing." said Peter Black. "But I also wanted to look at issues past just simply whether the train turns up on time. Commuters spoken to by local Liberal Democrats are angry that standard class ticket holders have to stand in the isle, while First Class might have three carriages with only two or three people in each."
"We also want to make sure that train companies are providing enough toilet facilities, particularly for those with disabilities. People with certain disabilities may be unable to drive so have to use public transport. We must ensure that train companies are meeting their needs, as these needs may be of a medical nature."
"If response on any particular issue shows a high amount of dissatisfaction, then I will not hesitate to write to Arriva Train Wales and First Great Western to alert them to the problem and ask them to put it right."
