Welsh Lib Dems back Welsh Language official status

Welsh Liberal Democrat Communities spokesperson Peter Black AM today welcomed moves to create official status for the Welsh Language in the National Assembly for Wales.

Speaking after the debate, Peter said: "This is a step towards official language status for Welsh, the right to services provided in Welsh and establishing a Welsh Language Commissioner. All of this is vital to create a more bilingual Wales."

Eleanor Burham AM, Welsh Liberal Democrat Welsh Language Champion said: "The Welsh language is not just part of our heritage - it is part of daily life all over Wales. We need to support bilingualism to ensure a flourishing cultural future.
