Jackie Radford and Martin Plant at Maesteg Hospital
Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly candidate for Ogmore has today spoken out on the alleged reports that once Wales' fourteen NHS Trust publish their end-of-financial-year figures that the debt of the NHS in Wales could reach a staggering £130m.
Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly candidate, Martin Plant commented 'If these reports prove accurate, then the total debt level has actually risen from £101m to £130m a rise of 24 per cent in the past year.
'This is unacceptable, for far too long under Labour the NHS has gone from one crisis to another.
'We have seen thousands protesting in the streets of mid and west Wales over proposed hospital closures and very recently in my home town of Maesteg, a man, who had been stabbed, had to be taken to hospital in a fire engine because an ambulance was not available.
'Under, the Welsh Lib Dem plans, Wales will have a modern ambulance service including a fully integrated Air Ambulance service and we will not reconfigure and reorganise hospital services until local communities have been fully consulted and plans for alternative primary and community services are in place.
'This mounting debt hanging over the NHS in Wales does not bode well for patients who need care the most, it will mean patients will suffer. It is clear Labours' record on the NHS is one of failure. The people of Wales now have a clear choice, do they want more of the same under Labour or do they want a healthier, safer and greener Wales under the Welsh Liberal Democrats.'
