Nick at Fairwood Hospital
Welsh Liberal Democrats from Gower are heading to Harrogate this weekend for the UK Liberal Democrat spring conference. Joining them will be Gower Liberal Democrats' Assembly candidate Councillor Nick Tregoning who is hoping to speak in the sustainable housing debate on Sunday.
"The Welsh Liberal Democrats are in good heart and we are looking forward to a great conference," said Nick Tregoning. "I am aiming to speak in the debate about the need to do more to ensure that the power companies increase energy efficiency, thereby reducing the amount of carbon produced by our homes."
"Making sure we use energy more efficiently has a double effect. Not only do we reduce our own carbon output, but we also save money. For pensioners and those on low incomes in particular, energy costs are a real burden. That is why I will be urging the Assembly to use its new powers to improve energy efficiency standards, and provide more help with insulation, draught-proofing, and window, heating and lighting replacement."
"The conference will be a boost for our local campaigning as we move towards the Assembly elections to be held here in May; and I am looking forward to reporting back to local members on the debates we will be holding."
The main conference debates will include tackling crime, providing more housing for local people whilst cutting pollution from homes, the future of Britain's nuclear deterrent and Britain's waterways.
