Local campaigner Martin Plant has been chosen by the local Lib Dem party as their next candidate to stand in next May's Assembly elections for the constituency of Ogmore.
Martin Plant lives in Caerau, Maesteg and is an active local community campaigner. Martin is
currently studying for a Masters degree in Social Work at Cardiff University after working for just over 3 years for NCH Cymru. Martin previously gain a BA (hons) Combined Studies (law, criminology and psychology) at Glamorgan University.
Local campaigner Martin Plant says:
"I am absolutely delighted to be the Welsh Liberal Democrat candidate for Ogmore. I want to be able to give the people of Ogmore a strong voice in the Assembly and to ensure that they get a fair deal".
"The people of Ogmore have been taken for granted and have been let down by Labour. Local residents are waking up to their empty promises and it is clear from local and general election results that they are turning away from their traditional loyalties.
"As a local resident, I know and share the frustrations of people living in the Ogmore area. I have serious concerns about the levels of crime and anti-social behaviour locally, unemployment, Post Office closures, NHS cuts and under funded schools. These are the issues I will put at the heart of my campaign."

Notes to the Editor.
1. The Welsh Liberal Democrats are the main political challengers to Labour in Ogmore. In 2005 the Lib Dems received a 2.0% swing from Labour to the Lib Dems putting the Party into second place pushing the Tories into 3rd and Plaid into a disappointing 4th place.
