Statistics out today reveal that more and more junior pupils are taught in class sizes larger than 30 in Wales - despite Labour promises in the last Assembly to reduce class sizes to a maximum of 25.
Welsh Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Peter Black said: "The figures show that there are 35% more classes of 30 or more pupils in Wales compared to this time last year.
"Labour abandoned their promise made in Partnership Government to set the maximum junior class size at 25. They have failed to ensure that Welsh children are learning in the best possible conditions.
"Small class sizes help teachers to help pupils. It improves the learning experience and means each pupil gets more individual attention.
"Welsh Liberal Democrats will have a manifesto commitment to an average class size of 25, with the target of 25 as the maximum class size by the end of the next Assembly term.
"We are ambitious for every child. It's a shame Labour's complacency is limiting opportunities for Welsh children."
