Welsh Liberal Democrat Education spokesperson Peter Black leant his support this week to MIDR Cymru, as they launch their biggest Freshers' Fayre campaign yet.
Mr Black said: "At a time when many people accuse students of political apathy, MIDR Cymru is thriving, providing a forum for debate and a place for students to engage with the big issues which affect them.
"If students want a political party which looks after their interests, the only option is the Welsh Liberal Democrats. We have campaigned for a parity of funding for universities in Wales with those across the border. In 2005, we led the campaign in the Welsh Assembly to defeat the introduction of top-up fees in Wales.
Adi Smith, Chair of MIDR Cymru said:
"MIDR Cymru is delighted to have a record number of Freshers' stalls this year, the length and breadth of Wales. We have a fantastic range of campaigns which deal with the issues that really matter to the students of Welsh universities.
"We have established a track record of backing up our campaigns with actual party policy, which no other youth party in Wales can match. I'm confident of a hugely successful Freshers season, and I'm equally confident that MIDR Cymru will be campaigning in the Assembly elections bigger and better than ever before."
