The Welsh Liberal Democrat Assembly Member for South Wales West, Peter Black, has hit out at the Post Office after they told him that the decision over the future of their Kingsway branch is a done deal and they are not prepared to listen to alternative views on the matter.
The Post Office expressed their indifference in a letter to Mr. Black in response to his correspondence opposing their decision. In their reply the 'Consultation Team Leader' stated that 'this is a commercial decision for Post Office Ltd and we are not inviting feedback on this decision.'
"I am astonished at the sheer arrogance of the Post Office in their approach to this matter," said Mr. Black. "They write to all elected representatives telling us of their plans and then refuse to listen to feedback even though there are some very real concerns about the future of Post Office services in the City Centre and the fact that we will be losing another Crown Post Office. What is doubly ironic is that the person who told me that she could not give a damn about the views of myself or anybody else in Swansea has as her job title 'consultation team leader'. This is the strangest definition of 'consultation' I have ever seen. "
"The Kingsway is the last Crown Post Office in the City Centre and its loss will lead to a significant loss in status and visibility for the Post Office. The Post Office needs to reassure and listen to local people not dismiss them out of hand. Their attitude is appalling and they need to be censored for it."
